MODOK

I keep coming back to Marvel Comics’ M.O.D.O.K as a subject for clay sculpting. It was one of the first things I made when I got back into sculpting as an adult. He’s such a fun/terrifying thing, with being a giant angry floating head and all that.

In 2016 I was testing a new mix of clay/wax and tried making a tiny MODOK.

Photoshop colorized for the turnaround gif, sitting on a stack of quarters.

For the Seattle Emerald City Comic Con in 2017 I spent the long weekend working on the biggest MODOK I’ve sculpted. Starting with a mannequin head, I used four colors of clay so I wouldn’t feel a need to colorize it.

The last MODOK sculpt I did in 2019 I made a variant where instead of a fleshy-guy in a techno-chair I made a techno-guy in a fleshy-chair.
